this ain't your grandpappy's rodeo!

As the sun sets on another exhilarating run for the Bulls, Bands, and Barrels (BBB) Tour, all eyes are on The Rapides Parish Coliseum in Alexandria, LA for the grand culmination of the 2023 Finals. This electrifying event, renowned for its fusion of heart-pounding bull riding, barrel racing, live music, and an atmosphere that rivals the most vibrant parties, is set to showcase the very best in western sports entertainment. The 2023 Finals promise a clash of titans, and we dive into the heart of the excitement and the individuals who make it all happen.

“We’ve been looking forward to this date all year,” said Hunter Price, President and CEO of Bulls, Bands, and Barrels. “This year’s tour wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of Robby Tarver of Tarver Land Development (TLD) and we are excited to host the finals in Alexandria with TLD as our presenting sponsor. This is going to be a show for the books!”

At the forefront of this adrenaline-fueled production is Generations Pro Rodeo (GPR), an embodiment of rodeo excellence. Founded in 2009 by Cline and Ashley Hall, GPR’s journey has been nothing short of remarkable. A significant milestone was achieved in 2019 when they secured their Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) membership, solidifying their reputation in the rodeo world.

Cline Hall, the mastermind behind GPR’s success, recalls their entry into the world of Bulls, Bands, and Barrels back in 2014. “We attended our first BBB in January 2014, and little did we know that this event would become an integral part of our journey,” he says. Over time, the Halls seamlessly integrated into the BBB fabric, taking on the role of Livestock Coordinator—a testament to their dedication to the event’s unique blend of rodeo tradition and high-energy festivities.

For Cline and Ashley Hall, BBB isn’t just another event—it’s a testament to their unwavering commitment to the western sports industry. “The western sports industry is not just something we do to make a living, it is the way we live our life every day. The world needs more cowboys!” Cline exclaims, highlighting the significance of rodeo as a way of life that goes beyond the arena.

The Finals of BBB 2023 are a culmination of not only GPR’s dedication but also the grit and talent of rodeo contestants like Laramie Craigen, the current #1 contender. “It will be exciting to see how it all works out,” Cline Hall says in anticipation. “I think Laramie can hold on to his spot, but there is also Jacob Marcell who took second place in Hattiesburg that’s hot on his heels looking for the win!” The competition is fierce, with top-tier riders vying for supremacy in a high-stakes showdown.

Laramie, the frontrunner in the standings, reflects on the journey leading to this point: “The road to the Finals has been intense, but that’s what bull riding is all about—pushing yourself and your limits.” His dedication to the sport is palpable, echoing the sentiments of cowboys and cowgirls who live for the thrill of the ride.

Meanwhile, in the barrel racing portion of BBB, it’s a two-woman race between Courtney Cuevas – currenting sitting at #1 in the 2023 standings – and Marley Seals – the 2022 BBB Champion, both fiercely determined to claim victory.  “It’s been an incredible journey to reach this point,” says Cuevas. “Barrel racing is all about precision and speed, and I’m excited to show my best at the Finals!” Will Marley repeat the victory for a second year in a row or will Courtney be crowned the 2023 Champion?

“It’s going to come down to a 100th of a second between Courtney and Marley,” says Price. “Both ladies are excellent jockeys and run top notch horses. It’s gonna be a nail biter for sure!”

As the BBB 2023 Finals draw near, the anticipation is electric. The arena will come alive with the clash of hooves, the roar of the crowd, and the rhythm of live music. It’s a convergence of tradition and entertainment that encapsulates the heart and soul of western sports—a celebration of the old and the new, the timeless and the modern. Whether it’s the thunderous bucking of GPR’s bulls, the fierce bull riding competition, or the lightning-fast barrel racing, the Finals promise a spectacle that will not disappoint.

After the champions are crowned, BBB patrons will be invited onto the dirt for an exhilarating concert featuring Sam Barber and Flatland Cavalry.
